Symposium on the 'State of Criminal Justice in Pakistan'

The Pakistan Center of legal Research and Publication organized a symposium on November 4, 2017.
The symposium was based on the State of Criminal Justice in Pakistan and highlighted the procedural and substantive problems within the system of criminal justice within Pakistan.

The event was opened with an inaugural session where the keynote speaker was Justice (R) Khalil ur Rehman Ramday. This was followed by the main body of the event which was divided into three sessions. These focused on Women in the Criminal Justice System, procedural problems of the criminal Justice system and the prosecution of terrorism.

The symposium's participants were practicing lawyers and professor's of law from universities such as the Islamic International University, University of Malakand, Bahria University and organizations such as the Digital Rights Foundation and the Institute of Development and Economic Alternatives (IDEAS).

The closing session was addressed by Chief Justice (R) Mian Allah Nawaz. The Symposium was supported by the Pakistan College of Law and the Arizona State University-Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law.

Research presented at the Symposium will be published in the upcoming volume of the Pakistan Law Review, the law journal of the Pakistan College of Law.
