Talha Rehman is in his third year of the LLB (Hons) programme of the University of London, at the Pakistan College of Law, Lahore. He has been selected as one of the 218 undergraduate students from Pakistan, chosen to participate in the 2018 Global Undergraduate Exchange Program in Pakistan. This is a proud moment for Talha, his family, professors and his peers as he was a successful applicant from the 32000 applications received by UGRAD-Pakistan. What makes his selection even more special is that there were only 3 undergraduate law students chosen for the 2018-2019 intake of the UGRAD-Pakistan.
The individuals selected for this program are put through a rigorous application process. Applications open a year prior to the year of selection and require applicants to submit a CV which not only shows high academic achievements but also substantial community work. Talha Rehman was one of the top scoring students of his class for his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Punjab and his LLB (Hons) degree from the University of London. He also put in substantial hours serving his community by working with RABT, an organization which works for causes like justice and poverty in Pakistan. His duties included teaching World History at selected schools to children from impoverished backgrounds.

Something Talha was required to demonstrate heavily in his application and interview for the UGRAD Program was that he reflected the experience noted in his CV. The UGRAD, has been very particular about ensuring that the CVs submitted for evaluation do not pay lip service to the work and skills stated therein. Talha was capable of doing so through the application and his interview and was therefore selected as a principal candidate for the fall 2018 session.
He has been placed at the University of South Dakota where he will be taking up subjects including Philosophy of Law, Constitutional Law and Mock Trial. In addition to this he will also be required to participate in community service activities in the United States of America. He will be a student at the university for one semester, after which he will return to Pakistan to resume his LLB (Hons).
Speaking to LEAP-Pakistan he stated that he was excited, not only for his upcoming academic pursuit but also for the cultural exchange which this program will ensure takes place. He encourages all students of Law in Pakistan to apply to this program as this will be a beneficial addition to their skill-set and academic experience.
